The Flower Gardens
The former vegetable garden and orchard were laid down in 1870 by Hubertus Paulus Hoevenaar jr. owner of a sugar factory in Indonesia. This former inhabitant was joint founder of a tree nursery in Eindhoven and very interested in garden layout.
The wishing well
The advantages of a walled garden was that the fruit and vegetables were sheltered and the walls were perfect for climbing plants. This also helped to keep the frost off the blossoms in early spring and the walls warmed by the sun protected the trees.
Beautiful borders, the Oranjerie at the right hand
In the last few years there has been a gradual change in the garden, the filling in of the four large quadrants from vegetable garden to flower garden with two hundred different sort of roses and various shrubs. In the borders are cutting flowers.
Flowers from the flower gardens
The flowers are used for beautiful decorations in the period rooms, this was done by the last noble occupant Baroness van Tuyll van Serooskerken-

Between the garden and the Helze is an educative insect garden. In this garden flowering plants have been planted, as food for butterflies, bees and other insects. Especially butterflies use these for depositing there eggs. An insect hotel has been built (a wall with a roof with numerous holes in), the bees have cupboards placed in the bee corner.
